Walterry Insurance: Worker's Compensation
In most states, worker's compensation is compulsory. In a few states this policy is available only through the state however, in most states the choice of where you purchase the policy is yours. The policy is divided in two sections as follows:
- Worker's Compensation -- this section pays applicable worker's compensation benefits to employees injured on the job, based on individual statutes.
- Employer's Liability -- this section protects employers from suits brought by injured employees to recover financial damages separate and distinct from workers compensation benefits. It also protects the employers from suits brought by close relatives of the injured employee. This section also provides for the employer's defense costs.
