Walterry Insurance Brokers

Established in 1968 by Walter and Terry Coady, Walterry Insurance Brokers is a full service insurance brokerage located in Clinton, Maryland, a suburb of Washington DC.

In 1978 Walterry designed a newspaper libel policy which is endorsed by the National Newspaper Association and twenty-eight state and/or regional newspaper associations. A few years later Corporation for Public Broadcasting and Public Broadcasting Service endorsed Walterry’s broadcasters’ libel insurance policy. Subsequently Walterry designed and wrote one of the first true occurrence policies for Film and Television producers. Acting as a general managing agent for the Chubb Group of Insurance Companies, Walterry is now recognized as one of the largest writers of newspaper, broadcaster and film and TV producers in the media liability insurance market. All libel policies are underwritten and issued by Walterry using state of the art computer systems in a paperless environment.

Due to their proximity to the Washington DC area, Walterry has established programs for nonprofit associations and has a substantial book of business for nonprofits which includes policies such as D&O, Event Cancellation and Property and Casualty.

Representing over twenty insurance companies, Walterry maintains a full service agency for traditional Commercial and Personal insurance policies including life and health.

Known for their personal service and attention to detail, phones are still answered by employees, not computers. Walterry celebrated its fortieth year of service to the public in 2008.
